PLEASE HELP US HELP LITTLE ANNIE FIND A HOME! Annie is a mini-dachshund who is 13 yrs old, weighs about 5 pounds she was once paralyzed about 8 yrs ago and regained ability to walk but can’t always control when she pees & poops. It’s been 3 yrs since I rescued Annie from an owner who kept her outside in a goat pen due to her incontinence. She lived with goats 24/7 in the penned in area and their shelter. I couldn’t leave her there; she seemed so unhappy and was living in the enclosure of urine and feces from the goats. After much talk I convinced the owner that I could provide a better life for her and she allowed me to take her home. Our vet removed her teeth as they were rotted but otherwise she was in good overall health. Annie fit in well with us, we have younger children she & never once snipped or bit them. She loves people, giving kisses and loves to snuggle. She gets along with dogs and now cats as well, but at first she wanted to eat them! With some muzzle training she quickly figured out chasing and biting cats wasn’t acceptable behavior, now they are friends. We have three dogs in total and one of them has “displaced aggression” issues and has attacked Annie on two separate occasions, the most recent in June 2014. I am heartbroken that I tried to give her a better life and she’s ended up wounded and hurt with puncture wounds to her neck. I am so very sad and upset but I feel like I have no choice but to try and find her another home. I don’t want her in danger or to get hurt again. She’s a sweetheart but also a lot of work. My hopes are that her older years will be good ones with a person or family that will accept her as she is; a silly little old dog with a great personality but has incontinence issues. If you have the heart, capability and patience to give this girl a good home please contact Furry Angels Dachshund Rescue.
