PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep baby Ben in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow (He is 7 months old and going back for his 5th open heart surgery). Come on Ben, you can do this!! Update posted by my friend, Sara... Just signed the consent for surgery tomorrow. They will be taking him to the OR at approximately 7 am. This is a fairly big surgery and will take several hours. Dr. Mettler is going to take the Glenn down and put in a larger BT shunt. There is a possibility his sinus node can be damaged during the surgery which means Ben wont be able to regulate his heart rate on his own and will need a pacemaker put in. He will have to go on bypass again for this surgery as well. I will be sure to update as much as I can tomorrow.... As for right now, Ben is stable. They turned the paralytic off earlier long enough to check his neuro status and he held my hand during the time when he was able to move. They put the negative pressure machine (looks like a turtle shell) back on until he goes to surgery tomorrow because it helps his O2 sats some. Other than that he is just resting until tomorrow....
