PLEASE READ! URGENT PRAIRIE DOG PLACEMENT SITUATION - YOUR PROMPT ATTENTION NEEDED! LOCATION: AUSTIN, TEXAS. Please help spread the word and feel free to share this announcement in various email communities and social networking channels and contact Gena Seaberg by PRIVATE MESSAGE ONLY or BY PHONE AT 425.870.1729 for more details. THANK YOU! Please meet Popy. She is an unaltered female pup from 2014 with no known health history (other than a tad bit of cage nose) that is now looking for what will hopefully be her third and final forever home. Her current caretakers rescued her from a couple that had not done their research and were in over their heads with her and what she needed. Her current caretaker loves her dearly, and is quite close to her and has done a great deal of work with Popy to where she is very gentle and affectionate and has never bit anyone. The caretaker has a young child and an active lifestyle and sadly Popy’s industrious and well-intentioned nesting and “construction” behaviors have made it necessary per other family members to rehome her. They want her to find a same gender, same species friend that can help occupy her time and give her the attention that she surely needs along with a loving, knowledgeable, and committed caretaker to do the same. She’s actually a really great pup and other than being really busy, with bathroom time, she’ll easily be able to learn and follow established boundaries if consistently applied. There is no fee for her placement. Her cage, accessories, food, and supplies will go with her. While Popy is currently very sweet, there may be a bit of normal behavioral regression as she adjusts and establishes a bond with a new caretaker and I can assist with the bonding and gradual integration process once a strong caretaker bond is formed. Understand that this small behavior regression is normal as she needs to establish trust again and that doesn’t happen overnight, but they all go through this process. She will NOT be placed in a mixed gender prairie dog home unless under special circumstance where the experience level of the owner warrants and/or where she could be separated if there are other females to join her in two groups (e.g. a male group/female group). The primary caregiver has taken plenty of time to ensure that she is becoming well socialized. Additionally, I will be available to partner with the nutritional migration that is required as she is not entirely on an optimal diet but I’ve definitely seen worse feeding scenarios and it should be fairly easy to transition to what’s best for long term health. Further details can be discussed with interested parties directly. I hope that together we can find Popy a great home and someone that will adore her and dedicate themselves to making sure she finally finds a happy forever home. Please spread the word and accept my sincere gratitude to all that we can work together to find Popy new adventures where she will be loved, healthy, and happy!!!!
