Renationalisation of our core commodities (Email to Andrew Smith MP - (David Cameron 10 Downing Street) Can a vote be put to the people of this country with the idea of renationalising our core commodities such as water/electricity? Pitched as a buy back of shares either through direct penny increments on existing Income & Corporation tax or perhaps some kind of re introduction of extra lottery tax? During the seventies, the system of nationalised electricity/gas and water was unfairly exploited with much wastage. I understand then that privatisation needed to be introduced in order to tighten the belt so to speak. PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS: If Thames Water can be used as an example, it has grown through Australian ownership to be a huge multinational corporation bringing in much revenue to the company. Can there be two separate arms of that business created into distinct (UK) and International departments? Thames Water already has meters in most houses. Could a new scheme introduce an equal quota system plus an excess charge bought against individual customers for miss use?
