PLEASE SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER. We did okay with the other one: about $300 of $500 raised and the deadline isnt up. But we promoted it after the fact; the dogs were already gone by the time it circulated. The dogs in this fundraiser are NOT gone. They wont be able to go at all if this money isnt raised. And theyll be stuck here while homes await them in Pennsylvania. For those of you exhausted by our constant pleas for donations--thats exactly how WE feel. EXHAUSTED. . .by the never-ending flood of animals into our countys kill shelter with no relief in sight. Until grant money is in the countys hand to fund spay and neuter programs for adopted animals, and until the community decides weve killed enough of them so its time to stop breeding more, the slaughter will continue. And thats what it is: a slaughter. A Holocaust for animals. Its time we stop trying to put a pretty face on this thing. Certain people in the county were horrified by the medias portrayal of us during the national airlift coverage. The more I think about that, the more that just burns me up. Hey--those far away news teams TOLD THE TRUTH about us. If it made us look bad, guess what? It is what it is. The option has been there all along for this county to make that situation better and yet the plight of our animals has been ignored for years. Out of sight, out of mind--lets dont talk about the shelter, lets dont call attention to the shelter, lets dont rock the boat. Theyre just animals, right? Well, I fervently believe that our current lineup of county leaders is better than that. Ive talked to many of them personally and this is NOT the attitude theyve shown me. Most feel as we do, that its time for positive change. So were putting the old regime on notice: if you think out of sight, out of mind is the best policy for dealing with this problem, youre probably going to be very unhappy with the exposure were going to give it on a local and national stage. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Tazewell County, lets own up to our mistakes. Lets come together for the betterment of our ENTIRE REGION. Lets fix this problem and move forward as a united front.
