A heatwave will move through the region over the next 3 to 4 days with extreme temperatures forecast. Dry conditions will prevail even-though storms are forecast fore most days. These storms will be dry storms and only patchy but are likely to be very lightning active. With over 37,000 lightning strikes recorded yesterday afternoon between NSW and Southern QLD, the chances of a fire are very high. A FIRE HAS RECENTLY BEEN REPORTED AT DALVEEN QFRS INCIDENT PAGE New England Hwy & Brown Rd, Dalveen Notification Reported: 24-Oct 15:56 Incident Type: VEGETATION FIRE Current Status: Contained Last Updated: 24-Oct 16:40 Location: New England Hwy & Brown Rd, Dalveen A fire or other emergency has started in the area however there is no immediate threat. From BOM Weather Situation A weak ridge extends along the Queensland coast and a broad area of low pressure is expected to develop through the interior of the state during Saturday. Hot to very hot temperatures, combined with dry fresh and gusty winds during the day, are expected to cause Severe Fire Dangers in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and the Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. For the rest of Friday 24 October: Severe Fire Danger in the following forecast district: Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders For Saturday 25 October: Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Darling Downs and Granite Belt The Rural Fire Service Queensland advises that fires may be unpredictable, uncontrollable and fast-moving. The Rural Fire Service Queensland advises you to: Check your bushfire survival plan - Now. Monitor the fire and weather situation in any way you can through ruralfire.qld.gov.au and bom.gov.au, television or radio. Call Triple Zero if you see a fire. The Rural Fire Service Queensland advises that if you are in an area of Severe Fire Danger: Leaving is the safest option for your survival. If you plan to leave finalise your options and leave early on the day. Only stay if your home is well prepared and well constructed and you can actively defend it.
