PLEASE SIGN & SHARE - SAVE THIS FAMOUS MUSIC VENUE!!! In the heart of Bristol, THE FLEECE is one of the most legendary and loved music venues in the UK. Thousands of bands and fans have flocked through its doors over the last 30 years, and it still plays host to great live music from all over the world, 7 nights a week. In the last few years we have seen many music venues struggle to stay open, due to the tough financial times we live in… which is why every arts and music venue should be treasured and supported! So it is an absolute shock and travesty to see that The Fleece Bristol is in danger of closing down - because of a developer wanting to build some flats next to it! All the info is on the petition below… Please sign, and share with all musicians / music-lovers you know! https://change.org/petitions/bristol-city-council-save-the-fleece-from-closure Basically, the plan is to convert an old office building next to the venue into 80 new flats / apartments… which will be only 20 metres away from the venues stage! In all of its years hosting live bands and shows, The Fleece has never once received a noise complaints, due to its ideal position in a non-residential area. But this development plan would completely change that - and the inevitable noise issues raised would spell the end for this iconic venue. (Similar situations have happened in many other areas before- such as in Cardiff, where a fantastic venue called The Point had to close down after 1 resident made persistent complaints about the live music… despite having moved into a flat across the road, knowing the venue was there!) There are many other sites ripe for development in Bristol, and many other ways that this office building could be used, without affecting the success and historical significance of one the UKs most important music venues.
