PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ AND SHARE TO HELP.THX ALL XOXOXOX We really need a foster home for him and we just do not have any fosters at all. Our program just is basically non-existent. Mikey is a 9 year old ridgeback mix that is just the sweetest thing ever. He is great with all dogs unless they start something, loves all people and is awesome with cats. Mikey just struggles with separation anxiety since his last owner started leaving him for 15 hours at a time. When he started this, Mikey began to self destruct and would lick his paws. His adopter finally called us once Mikey had a raging infection and told us he wanted to return him after four years. Mikey originally came to us four years ago after being hit by a car and we fixed his leg injuries and was adopted out to this man that just got a new job. At that time he did not have any separation issues and we believe he only developed them because he was just being left for so long. We have tried leaving Mikey at the shelter at night, but he will claw until his paws bleed, even if we have him sedated. He is now becoming so stressed he does not want to eat for us and he is steadily losing weight. The shelter life is just really not working out for him. If he is with people or in the car he is a complete doll. He is very well mannered and listens very well. He just needs someone who can devote time to re-training him that being away from people for a short amount of time is ok, but we just dont have enough time or staff to devote time to working with just him. It would be so wonderful if you could maybe help us with Mikey. It is just breaking our hearts to see him suffering like he is. I have attached a photo of sweet Mikey with Tilly, our 10 week old chihuahua puppy, who he is housed with during the day time in our office. He is just such a loving boy and we are not helping him because we just dont have the resources we need. I appreciate your time to read this and hear Mikeys story.
