PM Narendra Modi claimed that the earlier governments have never protected the interest of poor and farmers THESE ARE THE FACTS 1. PM Statement at the BJP National Council on India’s Position in WTO is Partisan, misleading and factually incorrect 2. Shri Modis claim of BJP Government alone having Protected India’s Poor Farmers and the right to Food Security is factually incorrect 3. This allegation that UPA surrendered India’s right & Farmers interest at the BALI, WTO is astonishing, irresponsible & false propaganda 4. The issue of public stockholding for food security was forced by India at Bali Ministerial meeting and same were secured & protected 5. PM needs to be reminded that India’s strong & uncompromising stance forced the issue of Food grains for Public Stock on BALI #WTO 6. India forced its stand at BALI WTO, despite the stiff opposition from U.S, European Union and other developed countries 7. India fought tenaciously and succeeded in putting together a global coalition of Developed Countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America & Caribbean 8. It forced Developed Countries to cede ground, agree to negotiate a Permanent solution to change rules which India rejected at BALI as inherintly flawed & unjust 9. It is embarrassing that PM is confusing the right of Public stock holding with sovereign right of Food Security #WTO 10. The Prime Minister of India should know that Food security is a sovereign space and has never been a part of WTO agenda 11. The Prime Minister of India is expected to be well informed & literate about position taken by India in multilateral forums & #WTO 12.
