POETIC TESTAMENTS: I SEE CLOUDS GATHER AND WATERS CLOT Poets are Gods; they sing in duets Poets are Gods; they die like men In muted wise tongues, they roar Clouds are gathering, lyrics of doom The sun’s retiring and night’s doom assails The fields wither, flee time’s destroying hand I see bubbles hastening to wind’s banquet I see city jackals on bloody rampage Screams and wailings on the street The birds are souring away higher Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather Critics are crusaders of excellence Upon the banquet of a bloody king The hangmen prey on their flesh The lakes are still, the oceans lurch I see nobles wailing at banquet Stillness on the streets, it’s doom lyrics Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather Silent still voices, folded shaking hands I see oceans brisk away to extinctions And skies barren with no glitzy stars I see heaven’s droplets unyielding And green fields withering away And no greenish orchards blossom Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather I see Heaven’s glamour veiled, And moistening dews wane I see masters at their slaves’ feet Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather I see youthfulness shedding sprightly glamour Agedness quickening to death valleys Ancient chambers fizzling into bubbles Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather I hear roaring of many sparky clouds All folding like a piece of padded mat The sounds of surging whirling winds I see boundaries in rumble Villas and shanties rummaged Nests, cradles and holes hunted Clouds are gathering, greater clouds gather The masters and godfathers, All scheming to do or out-do; The gamers, in words and deeds Haul darts of hatred and rancour. The game of the mind, The guts of the gods, All playing out as clock hand’s nod. If gut’s on my side….
