#POHRU: An urban fringe of Srinagar ignored by the authorities or by the God himself??? Within Pohru, shah mohallah among 120 chulhas registered, more than 70 have been damaged by the floods.. we provided food, blankets and some cash to the widows there yet there ws more havoc than wat floods did to them... Since we are now done with the rescue and relief operation, focusing on rehabilitation and Eid celebrations with the flood victims a day before Eid, while on my way, along with the team for survey of flood wrecked houses at pohru, i found something quiet unusual.. almost every third home houses either a differently abled child or a paralytic person or a widow and what not... i know these things are normal when we talk about our country at large.. yet a cause of concern: why so many cases within such small cluster?? So my focus shifted from relief to this particulr cause and upon discussions with my volunteers we decided to adopt this village to focus on #rehabilitation, giving this issue a paramount priority.. at first thought i felt there could be some genetic disorders, however luckily one of my teammates Dr. Khalid, a scientist with Indian institute of integrated medicines (IIIM) was ready to provide any kind of help required by us.. so we took the panch of the village into confidence and talked to various families who were not coming up with these problems earlier citing various social excuses.. however, Dr. Khalid was of the opinion that these could be some epigenetic disorders, may be caused by water or food they take or could even be enviornmentally induced mutations... i along with my team comprising kashif malik, suhail malik, Dr. Khalid went there again a day after Eid, this time with a specialist Dr. Khursheed iqbal (Banihal), who after enquiring about the situation, promised of setting up a free medical camp fr the sufferers... Also our team members Umer Asif, suhail, KA AS Hif Malick and Dr. Khalid are busy collecting full details about the patients, visiting each and every house continuously for the lat three days.. I request to all of u noble souls out there to please provide some help to the people out there in any capacity you can, whether acting as a pressure group and expediting the help frm authorities to reach to them, either through media or by personally visiting there taking doctors into confidence...
