POINT OF.....VIEW! Gianicolo Unfortunately not often mentioned in the various guide books, this part of Rome is surely one of the most representative for the Romans. In its 88 meters of altitude, it was originally not included in the Imperial age borders. During the 19th Century though, it became the scenary of one of the battles against the Vatican City, symbol of the Unity of Italy. A part the magnificient view, that shows all the historical centre of Rome, it has been always known for its romantic atmosphere, like one of those perfect places to propose!!! Every day, at midday, in order to celebrate all the fights that have been in here, a cannon shoot from the top of the hill; sometimes, usually in Sundays or in summer, when the City is a little bit less noisy, the shoot can be heard even from the Hotel!!!! A very nice walking, between Vatican City and the district of Trastevere! Do not miss!
