PORTMEIRION No6 FESTIVAL ON THE 6TH SEPT Perhaps someone could enlighten me on something thats bothering me regarding this Festival, I see along the main road leading from the By Pass Roundabout through Minffordd and down the Cemetery Hill a massive number of No Parking Cones, and large Yellow Display Boards saying the same thing on approaches from Penrhyn and from Porthmadog and I can well understand the reason for these as without them it would have been a nightmare with people going to the event parking here and there willy nilly, and the idea of bussing them in from near Port FC ground is a common sense one What I would like to know is how is it that Portmeirion Ltd have STATED QUITE EMPHATICALLY that LOCAL RESIDENTS WOULD NEED PERMITS FROM THEM to park by their homes or outside their own front door on the road when in reality the roads leading to Maes y Garth Estate, and Tyddyn Llwyn and the Council Estate at Min y Traeth IS NOT A PART OF THE ESTATE OF PORTMEIION and is either private land or Council territory. I accept that the spur load from the main road through Minffordd leading up to the drive way that takes you on to Portmeirion most probably part of the Estate and therefore they do have a legal right to say who and where people can park. But surely to insist that the resident of the 3 areas mentioned MUST HAVE AND DISPLAY THESE PERMITS IS in my estimation and I stand corrected on this , the height of cheek and also totally illegal, or are we going back to the age of Barons who held land and sway here in this land and serfs who were forced to bend to their will, I cannot for the life of me see how they can legally do this, to dictate to local residents who live in these areas, and what about their families and friends who want to visit and dont even want their Festival anyway, SINCE WHEN DO WE HAVE NO GO AREAS in this democratic land of ours (except when you have much bigger events like the NATO SUMMIT in Newport now, and No 6 does not come anywhere near to that, so I will be interested to hear views on this matter which I consider to be a matter of democratic freedom????
