PRAISE I hear a lot of people say that it dont take all that pertaining to PRAISE in the house of God and even outside of it. Most Spirit filled churches have been ridiculed for the things we do in our services. I must confess, we find those that go to church to be entertained and they like that feel good that flows through the presence of the Lord, but there seems to be more with a sincere desire to PRAISE God as He has instructed in His Word. For those of you that dont understand or are scared to PRAISE, I would like to share with you what I have found in the Bible to help release that inward feeling with an outward expression. There are 7 types of PRAISE in the Bible: Yahdah: To show reverence or praise with extended hands. Towdah: Show agreement with by extending the right hand. The idea is that it is usually associated with sacrifice (specially things given up to show thankfulness to God). Barak: To kneel down, to bow low as a sign of adoration and reverence. This is why we go to the altar. Tehillah: This type of praise is singing, but not just any type of singing. It is the singing that bubbles up from your heart. Spontaneous type of singing. These songs are unrehearsed and unprepared. Zamar: This literally means to pluck the string, to celebrate in song and music. Basically it is probably to most common form of PRAISE we have across the world in our churches. Its just singing songs put to music. It can also refer to just playing, as well. It is usually translated sing praises. Hallal: This requires one to step out of his dignity for a moment. This means to be clamorously foolish. To boast. To shine. This is the kind of praise David exhibited when he danced for joy at the return of the ark of the covenant. This is where we get the word Hallelujah from. It means praise the Lord but it literally means to BE CLAMOROUSLY FOOLISH unto the Lord. It also means the state of the heart before God. Shabach: To address in a loud tone. Its typically associated with freedom or triumph. But its more than just a loud shout, its the idea of putting everything you have into it. An attitude of whole hearted praise. When you look these words up, you will find scriptures to back them up. So, today when you enter His court, enter with praise!!
