PRAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!! Paul wrote that we should pray for one - TopicsExpress

PRAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!! Paul wrote that we should pray for one another (James 5:16). But the very same Paul said in 1Thesalonians 5:25 “Brothers, pray for us.” Recently I found that Pastors are reluctant to ask for prayer. It appears as if Pastors perceive asking for prayer as a sign of weakness, or as acknowledgement of failure. And in all honesty, Pastors no longer trust one another, no longer feel safe between others as many a prayer requests became a point on the agenda of the next regional council meeting, or a subject for discussion at the Pastors fraternal. Other reasons we are not prepared to say “Brothers, pray for us” is pride and / or our “I’ll-do-it-myself, I-can-do-it-on-my-own” attitude. On the other side of the coin we hear Pastors say “pray for us” in the same sentence as “we need 500 000 dollars for our next outreach to who-knows-where. In cases like these the term “pray for me” actually means “pay for me” In the last couple of months, my family and I experienced a number of “trials”. And today I thank God for giving us a number of friends that we could turn to, whom we could ask “Brother, pray for us” In conclusion there are three things I wish to ask: The first - Are we, you and I prepared to sing with Mask Bishop or say “Can I pray for you? Can I mention your name to the Lord? When I seek His face, can I plead your case?”
