PRAYER REQUEST MEDIA ALERT MEMORIAL SERVICE TO HONOR WAYNE COUNTY NEIGHBORS UNCLAIMED AT WAYNE COUNTY MORGUE Michigan Funeral Directors, The Jewish Fund, and the Archdiocese of Detroit collaborate with partners to create respectful farewell for unclaimed citizens WHAT: Members of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association from Wayne and Oakland Counties, with the support of The Jewish Fund and the Archdiocese of Detroit, along with a coalition of volunteers, announce a public memorial service and ceremonial interment to honor the 200 Metro Detroiters whose bodies are unclaimed at the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office. Other institutions, organizations, and businesses have also generously contributed to resolve this sad reality. The Interfaith service will be open to the community. It will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery in Brownstown Township. The coalition has ensured that all of those who have remained at the Wayne County Morgue long-term will be buried in individual, marked graves within 30 days. Importantly, the coalition has established a plan to ensure that this situation never happens again in Wayne County. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend to pay respects to their neighbors, along with family members of the deceased.
