PREACHERS SHOULD PREACH BY THEIR LIVES :-- In primitve times preachers were charged to preach by their lives or not to preach at all. Christians everywhere should be icharged to pray by their lives. The most effective preaching is not that which is heard from the pulpit, but that which is proclaimed by living quietly, humbly, & consistently----thus exhibiting its excellencies at home & in the community. Example preaches a far more effective sermon than doctrine. Even in the pulpit, the best preaching is that which is produced by godly living in the preacher, accompanied with HOLINESS OF LIFE, SEPERATED FROM THE WORLD, & SEPERATION FROM SIN. Some of the strongst appeals are made with mute lips---by godly fathers & saintly mothers. Such parents fear GOD, LOVE HIS CAUSE & daily exhibit to their children & others the beauties & excellencies of Christian life & conduct. The best--prepared & most excellent sermon can be marred & rendered ineffective by questionable practices in the preacher. The most active church workers can have the labour of their hands, weakened by worldliness of spirit & inconsistency of life. Ofcourse the prayer of repentence is acceptable to God. God delights in hearing the cries of penitent sinners. But repentence involves not only sorrow for sin, but turning away from wrongdoing and learning to do well. Proverbs 28:13 says, he that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whoso CONFESSETH & FORSAKETH them shall have mercy.
