PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal Injury crisis worsen as Ramsey and Koscielny blows leave Arsenal at critical level Arsenal are facing an injury crisis for the weekend’s game against Newcastle with Arsene Wenger confirming he is desperately short of defenders and missing Aaron Ramsey. The Gunners enjoyed an emphatic 4-1 win at Galatasaray in midweek but the victory came at a cost with Ramsey, who scored two goals in Turkey, sustaining a muscle injury. Now the Wales international will miss Saturday’s home game against Newcastle – and Arsenal are currently unsure when he will return. Its a shame because he was getting close to matching last seasons form,” said Wenger Arsenal’s midfield options are at critical level, with Mesut Ozil, Abou Diaby, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere all sidelined. Of even more concern for Arsenal is their defensive options with Wenger also announcing that key centre-back Laurent Koscielny will miss out due to an Achilles injury. Calum Chambers is also suspended and Nacho Monreal is another absentee due to fitness problems. I have 24 hours to work out the defence, Wenger told the press. Per Mertesacker will start at centre-back, Kieran Gibbs at left-back and Mathieu Debuchy made a timely return to fitness in midweek, but Arsenal are lacking a second centre-back. Right-back Hector Bellerin could be brought in with a reshuffle to the back line. Who could have foreseen that only having two senior centre-backs would present such a problem? Oh thats right, everyone, back in the summer when Wenger perplexingly failed to strengthen his options. Nacho Monreal has been a sub-standard stand-in for much of the season but now even he is missing too, Arsenal find themselves with real problems, all of their own making. This can only be further ammunition for the Wenger Out brigade, especially given his stated reluctance to invest in January if his players are fit.
