PREPREGNANCY SCREENING. Our VISTA™ product portfolio is due to be launched early in 2015 and comprises market leading tests for a range of monogenic diseases and genetic disorders. VISTAs highly accurate test results allow you to provide your patients with actionable information, which empowers them to make informed reproductive decisions. Monogenic diseases are genetic disorders caused by mutations occuring in a single gene. Hereditary hearing loss and deafness, sickle cell anaemia and thalassemia are the most common monogenic diseases. At present over 7000 monogenic diseases have been discovered, although individually rare, they have a high total prevalence (1/100). Most monogenic diseases lead to birth defects, early mortality or disability. Only 1% of monogenic diseases have effective medical treatments. Vista Carrier Screening is a comprehensive genetic screen which detects the risk for 600 common monogenic diseases from a small sample of peripheral blood. The Vista Carrier Screen detects mutations in the target region with high sensitivity, specificity and reliability and therefore allows patients to make informed and timely decisions regarding family planning.
