PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, LIFT THE SANCTIONS AGAINST ZIMBABWE. President Barack Obama and America, God has likened you to the biblical Pharaoh of Egypt, whose hard heartedness led him to ignore the pleas of the children of Israel, who had been enslaved and lived at his mercy for years. Like Pharaoh, you refuse to free the children of Zimbabwe and knowingly deny them the right to live a free and full existence, but continue to subject them to your indifference. Moses was sent to Pharaoh with the same message which is being delivered to you today by us that God instructs that you set the Zimbabwean people free. Over the last decade, can you not see that the USA has been the subject of many disasters culminating from your refusal to listen to the will of the Lord and your refusal to refrain from dealing with other nations as your subjects? From 2001 when you passed the ZDERA Act, began the first incidence of terror attacks, followed by numerous hurricanes and shootings. President Barack Obama; God says this is only the beginning of many catastrophic events to come, if you continue to refuse to address these injustices. This is the third time that we are appealing to you President Obama and your administration to repeal the current ‘economic restrictive measures’, which were enacted against Zimbabwe through the ZDERA Act (2001), under the George W. Bush Administration.We have previously contacted you on two occasions, however you do not wish to resolve this matter in a diplomatic manner, so we are forced to address our concerns on a worldwide platform that you may take this issue seriously and accord it the sensitivity and urgency it so deserves. The conditions of the ZDERA Act (2001) stipulate: Restoration of rule of law, Withdrawal of armed forces from DRC, Peaceful elections, specifically pre and post- election environments, uniformed forces to observe and respect elected civilian government, Commitment to equitable, legal and transparent land reform. Although you claim that the ZDERA Act (2001) are targeted restrictive measures directed at individuals, it unreservedly defines financial restrictions directed at the Zimbabwean government which deny it access and assistance from both international and multilateral banks. It also targets national companies which form the backbone of Zimbabwe’s economy, from national banks, national mining companies and agricultural holdings that have been denied trade, leading to loss of employment, depletion of foreign currency reserves, decline in industry exuberated from withdrawal of foreign companies, lack of access to goods needed in society. As a direct result of your sanctions against the Zimbabwean government, Zimbabwe has failed to provide basic education and healthcare services as its capabilities and resources have been crippled. It is an undeniable fact that there has been human collateral damage, and the ordinary Zimbabwean has been adversely affected by this legislation, despite your claims to the contrary. Zimbabwe has restored the rule of Law, and thereby continued sanctions against Zimbabwe are being used as a tool to influence or effect regime change, rather than assistance for economic recovery and democratic support for Zimbabweans as you purport. President Barack Obama and America; how can you let millions of Zimbabweans suffer just for the agenda of hatred between you and President Mugabe? Please do not continue to hide behind your finger, you are well aware of the influence of America within the Allied powers, and international organisations; if you do not revoke the stance you have taken, you know no country will. You are misrepresentingfacts regarding the situation in Zimbabwe by instigating political propaganda, vilification of leadership and undermining the outcome of the same democratic process you claim to support. Stop fostering a campaign of hatred, but be a leader who builds bridges between people and their leaders, leave a legacy of unity and reconciliation amongst within and outside the bounds of the African community.
