PRESS NOTE HISTORIC JOINT CHITAWANI ( WARNING )RALLY OF FOUR LEFT PARTIES WARNS BADAL GOVERNMENT Ludhiana, November 28, 2014. The massive Chetawani rally held here today by at the call of Four Left Parties – CPI, CPI(M), CPM Punjab and CPI(ML) Liberation warned the Akali-BJP Badal government to accept the demands charter or be ready to face intensive consistent mass struggles including satyagraha . This historical rally has been held for scrapping of draconian black law ‘Prevention Of damage To Public And Private Property Bill 2014’ passed by the Punjab assembly and for achieving the 14 point Demand Charter containing burning problems and just demands of the people. The rally was addressed by Central leaders Comrade Prakash Karat, General Secretary, CPI(M), Comrade A. B. Bardhan, Veteran CPI leader and Comrade Dipankar Bhattacharya, General Secretary, CPI(ML) Liberation. Apart from central leaders , state leaders, Comrades, Bant Singh Brar, Charan Singh Virdi, Mangat Ram Pasla, Gurmit Singh Bakhtupur, Dr. Joginder Dyal, Raghunath Singh, Harkanwal Singh, Rajwinder Rana, Hardev Arshi and Gurnam Singh Daud also addressed the rally. The rally was presided over by the Presidium consisting of Comrades Jagroop Singh, Vijay Misra, Kulwant Singh Sandhu and Bhagwant Samao. The leaders while addressing the rally condemned the central government led by Narender Modi for implementing the anti people Neo-Liberal policies. They alleged that the Modi government is trying to dilute the MGNREGA scheme, planning to abolish the meagre subsidies to poor people and debt ridden peasantry, opening more and more sectors for FDI, amending labour laws for maximisation of profits of multinational corporations and big Indian corporate houses. They expressed serious concern over the efforts of central government to bring most backward and communal changes in the school syllabus at the behest of RSS. They were critical of the manner in which well established administrative rules and procedures are being given a go bye to bring them in tune with administrative and political requirements of RSS . The leaders strongly criticised the anti people policies of the Badal led Akali-BJP government and demanded immediate solution to the burning demands like abolition of property tax, minimum Rs 3000 as old age/widow pension, strengthening of Public Distribution System, Rs 15 thousand as minimum wage, suitable steps to improve deteriorating law and order situation. They accused that the Badal government has failed to curb the illegal activities of sand, gravel, transport and cable mafias. They termed the claims of the Punjab government as hollow as it has bitterly failed to curb the drug & narcotics mafia and take any action against police officers, bureaucrats and politicians patronising the drug mafia. This rally will surely provide a left and democratic alternative before the people of the state which will be committed to reverse the anti people neo-liberal policies of the central government and will protect secular and democratic fabric of Indian society.
