PRESS RELEASE 17TH OCTOBER 2014 RE: NPP BROKE, DELEGATES - TopicsExpress

PRESS RELEASE 17TH OCTOBER 2014 RE: NPP BROKE, DELEGATES STRANDED The Friday October 17, 2014 edition of the Daily Guide Newspaper carried a front page story with the above caption authored by William Yaw Owusu. In that story, the writer claimed in paragraph two that there was widespread concern that tomorrows’ Presidential Primary of the NPP might not come off as scheduled. In paragraph three, the writer again claimed that according to former General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the NPP was broke and had no money. This comes on the heels of earlier claims by Hon. Henry Quartey that an individual Presidential Aspirant has funded the exercise to the tune of GH¢600,000. The party wishes to emphatically state that the claims by both Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie and Hon. Henry Quartey that the party is broke and has no money and that an individual presidential aspirant had funded the exercise to the tune of GH¢ 600,000 respectively are palpably false and most unfortunate. The NPP want to assure all party faithful and the general public that the elections of Saturday October 18, 2014 will come off as scheduled at all the 276 designated polling stations. All necessary preparations have been made for the successful conduct of the exercise Arrangements have been made for transportation allowances for delegates who need to travel long distances both in orphan or distressed constituencies and constituencies with sitting MPs. The party is grateful to its 123 members of parliament and all its benefactors. We however wish to state that the party encourages a spirit of volunteerism and patriotism as we get ready for battle 2016. To that effect monies have been advanced to all constituencies in the Upper East, Upper West, selected constituencies in Northern, Eastern, Volta and other regions. We urge all to disregard these unwarranted claims and call on all patriots of our great party who are eligible to vote to turn out massively and conduct themselves in accordance with the operating guidelines the party issued last Wednesday. ------SIGNED------- PIUS ENAM HADZIDE DEPUTY COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
