PRESS RELEASE 38/14 For Immediate Release March 3, 2014 COURTS INVESTS USD$8 MILLION IN SAINT LUCIA The Unicomer Group, trading as Courts (Saint Lucia) has invested over USD$8 million in Saint Lucia, through the construction of a new distribution centre, in Marisule, Gros-Islet. Speaking at the ceremony to officially declare the centre open, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony welcomed the investment, stating that it was a bold expression of confidence in the Saint Lucian economy. The Prime Minister said, “Now that this Distribution Centre has been completed, it paves the way for further investments in Saint Lucia. We thank you for your continued confidence in the Saint Lucian economy as you build and plan for the future.” Prime Minister Anthony welcomed the announcement by Mr. Guillermo Siman, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of the Unicomer Group that Unicomer plans to construct a modern retail centre along the Bois D’Orange Highway. This, he says, speaks volumes about Unicomer’s commitment to Saint Lucia. Dr. Anthony said, “In 1981, the decision to invest in Saint Lucia inspired confidence. Today, thirty three years later, this decision does the same, as we cope from the fall out of a global recession. This show of confidence endorses fully, the World Bank’s ranking of Saint Lucia, as the number one place to do business in the region.” The Prime Minister praised the employees of Courts, describing them as committed and outstanding and urged the management of Courts to take care of them . Meanwhile, the Prime Minister used the opportunity to thank Courts for its donations of mattresses and pillows to victims of the Christmas Eve Trough. The new Distribution Centre was opened on Thursday, February 27, 2014. END.
