PRESS RELEASE 91/14 For Immediate Release May 29, 2014 PRIME MINISTER MEETS SOCIAL PARTNERS Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Hon. Kenny D. Anthony, will meet Social Partners today, May 29, 2014, to follow up on the “Retreat on the Economy” held earlier this year. The meeting will receive and review the report of the facilitator on the retreat, Mr. Michael Da Costa. According to the Prime Minister, “I am hoping that the meeting agrees to the eventual establishment of a tri-partite mechanism that would allow for frequent exchanges and perspectives on the economy and the development agenda of Saint Lucia. This I think should be preceded by a “compact” between the parties to reflect a shared understanding of the challenges ahead and how best to deal with them. As I have said before, it is absolutely vital that we all work from the same page and that there is shared understanding among all actors in the public and private sectors.” Representatives of the private sector and civil society groups, who participated in the retreat, are expected to be present for this follow-up exercise.
