PRESS RELEASE BOB BLASTS ABUJA-BASED POLITICIANS Abuja-based politicians interested in political offices in Akwa Ibom but who are blackmailing the Akpabio administration from their Abuja bases, instead of coming home to campaign, have drawn the ire of Senator Effiong Bob. Senator Bob, who was speaking Monday during a town hall meeting and constituency briefing in Etinan Federal Constituency noted, “I came down because this is very important to me and our people, and to show the importance we attach to politics of interaction. So anybody who feels he is somebody and fails to attend, or neglect to attend a meeting of this sort is not worth commenting on.” According to him, “After God, is Government, so where will you say something, when you refuse to come and say something where Government say you should say something.” Senator Bob who is the Pro-Chancellor, University of Benin remarked “Politics is without bitterness. Don’t go about talking evil about people, talk facts, talk truth and be saved. Here I am going to talk truth. Of course I have enough standing to say the truth.” He supported the zoning of governorship position in 2015 to Eket Senatorial District, but queried “I was, and still and about to be convinced that power should shift. How would it shift? He who comes to equity must do equity and he who seeks for equity must come with clean hands. Initially, I said it should go to Eket, but I made a condition for Uyo where I have represented for eight years. Senator Bob maintained that Uyo Senatorial District should be accommodated in any political arrangement maintaining that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. Governor Godswill Akpabio while responding stated that he was an umpire adding “You know when you are an outgoing governor, everybody send text messages and abuse you. They abuse you because they know in the next few months another person will take over. So I must be careful with what I say so that I may not be abused after this.” Akpabio commented that “Uyo is a special Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State and the only one that is homogenous.” He maintained that the interest of Uyo will definitely be protected in any political arrangement, maintain that the voice of the people will carry the day in the end.
