PRESS RELEASE MARKAZ AL IHSAN (GUYANA BRANCH) TO OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS TO QUALIFIED STUDENTS Classes to Recommence on September 13 Classes for Guyana Branch of Markaz Al Ihsaan of Trinidad & Tobago, a Theological Institute to provide quality Higher Islamic Education from the fundamentals of Islam to the tertiary level, will continue on Saturday September 13, 2014 after the Ramadan break, at the Nooranie Madrasa, Anna Catherina Islamic Complex (ACIC). Guyana’s Sunni Muslim School, Madrasa Nooranie, (established September, 2003 at the ACIC) had formalized the establishment of the branch at the famed ACIC with Principal of the Institute, Maulana Dr. Waffie Mohamed. In November last, World’s renowned Muslim Scholar, Maulana Dr. Hisham Kabbani, unveiled the plaque of the Guyana Branch of the prestigious institution to formally establish it and classes commenced in December. In recognition that many persons, due to several other commitments and time constraints, especially the professionals and semi-professionals, are unable to attend the full days’ sessions for the certificate program, the Institute has designed and commenced, a special program, compacting the courses of the certificate programs into shorter times. However, the credibility of the program will not be compromised. This special program will continue on Saturday September 13 & Sunday September 14, 2014 from 6.30PM to 8.30PM. However, the Saturday evening program will continue at the ACIC as usual, but the Sunday evening Program will be held at Mon Repos Masjid, East Coast Demerara, to cater for persons interested in the classes on the East Coast. As usual, all course materials will be provided free of cost. Markaz Al Ihsaan was established in 2000 and offers courses in some of the specialized areas of Islamic knowledge. It is committed to the dissemination of Islamic knowledge and in assisting in the cultivation of a refined life for every individual, based on Qur’anic guidance and on the Traditions of Prophet Muhammad (pboh). Its courses are designed to help the individual to know, practice and preach true Islam. It has developed a band of competent, qualified teachers able to carry out this mission in order to be able to pass on the legacy of Islam at any level in the society. It offers three levels: Certificate Course (a one-year course designed to make the participants aware of all that is required to be an enlightened practicing Muslim), Diploma Course (a one year course opened to students who have successfully completed the Certificate Course and prepare the participants to be able to present Islam at a national, meaningful and learned way to believers and non-believers alike) and Alim Course (a three-year course, which enables the participants to become qualified in Islamic Theology, (Aalim). In the areas of Specialized subjects on contemporary issues, Markaz al Ihsaan offers special subjects to each student, such as: Comparative Religion, Public Speaking, Islamic Sociology, Qur’anic Psychology, Qur’anic Philosophy, Leadership Course and Religious Sects in Islam. The courses offered at the Guyana Branch of the Markaz are being conducted by Lecturers from Trinidad & Tobago who travel to Guyana on a monthly basis to conduct the classes. Students must be over 12 (twelve) years. All course material, books, meals etc will be provided free of charge by the Markaz/ACIC. In addition, the Guyana branch is now offering monetary grants to qualified students to cover their expenses.
