PRESS RELEASE... PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release Friday 7th June 2013 Anti Bedroom Tax Campaigners to Join Demonstration Against Austerity at Tory Party Conference in Stirling The Scottish Anti Bedroom Tax Federation is mobilising its many affiliated Campaign Groups from throughout Scotland to attend the Anti Austerity Demonstration at the Tory Party Conference, which is taking place in Stirling on Saturday 8th June 2013, to protest against the Tories Welfare Reform Agenda. The Demonstration, which has been organised by Local Councillor Alasdair MacPherson, will send a direct message to the Tories that their attacks on ordinary working families, the disabled, the poor and the vulnerable is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. This demonstration is the latest in a series of Public Meetings and Demonstrations that have taken place over the past few months, building opposition to the Bedroom Tax. More events will be taking place over the summer. Ken Ross, Spokesperson for the Scottish Anti Bedroom Tax Federation said “The Bedroom Tax must be one of the most obscene pieces of legislation ever to have been inflicted on people in this country. “What makes it so outrageous is that it targets the poorest and most vulnerable people in our communities. What we have seen in recent months is those communities coming together across the length & breadth of Scotland, getting organised and fighting back. “We are delighted that Cllr MacPherson has offered our Chair, Tommy Sheridan, the chance to speak at the Demonstration. We will use this opportunity to once again highlight the injustice of the Bedroom Tax and to continue to build opposition to it across Scotland”. ***ENDS*** Notes for Editors The Demonstration will take place at Kings Park in Stirling on Saturday 8th June 2013. A Rally will take place at 1000hrs and will be followed by a March at 1100hrs. The Scottish Anti Bedroom Tax Federation will be providing a Free Bus to transport people from the Glasgow area to the Demonstration.
