PRESS RELEASE STATEMENT BY YB FOREIGN MINISTER ON PHONE CONVERSATION WITH UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN KERRY ON 31 DECEMBER 2014 YB Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj Aman received a phone call on the current flood situation in Malaysia, from United States Secretary of State His Excellency John Kerry on 31 December 2014 at 0017 hours. Secretary Kerry expressed condolences for Malaysians who have suffered as a result of the flood and offered United States disaster relief assistance for those affected. Secretary Kerry also extended United States condolences for the Air Asia flight QZ8501 tragedy, conveyed sympathy for the families of the victims and stated United States’ support for the recovery effort. YB Dato’ Sri Anifah expressed his gratitude to Secretary Kerry for the call and his appreciation for the condolences and the assistance offered. Malaysia acknowledges the concern shown by the United States of America and will continue to work together with the government of the United States to facilitate assistance offered.
