PRESS RELEASE Thompson Condemns Burning Of Wreath At Cenotaph DUP Councillor for Omagh Town, Errol Thompson, has condemned in the strongest possible terms, the burning of a wreath at the Cenotaph in Omagh. The unsavoury incident which took place at around 2.30 am on the morning of Saturday 28 September 2013, has caused a lot of anger in the community. This is particularly due to the fact that Omagh was a Garrison town for many years, and people from all traditions from throughout the District and further afield served, and were employed, in both the former St Lucia Barracks and Lisanelly Barracks in the town. Men and women from all traditions laid down their lives in the cause of freedom in the First and Second World Wars and in subsequent conflicts, so that we may have the freedoms we enjoy today. Therefore, I would call upon anyone with any information to get in touch with the Police Service of Northern Ireland immediately, so that the culprit / culprits responsible, may be made accountable for their insensitive actions.
