PRESS RELEASE: Women in Film & Television – Florida (WIFT-FL) Approves Four Sub-Branch Locations: Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale & Tampa/St. Petersburg ORLANDO, FL – October 28, 2014 - Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI), a global network comprised of over 10,000 members from 40 Women In Film chapters worldwide, has included a Florida chapter since 1989. Membership in WIFTI includes dynamic film, television, and digital media industry professionals from all facets of the entertainment business. At Women in Film & TV – Florida’s (WIFT-FL) quarterly meeting this month, it was officially announced that the Board of Directors approved the creation of four new sub-branches to work under the guidance of the Orlando-based organization. These additional locations will be in Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, and Tampa/St. Petersburg. All four sub-branches will be open by the end of 2014/beginning of 2015. “This is an exciting time and incredible news for people working in the film, TV and digital media industries throughout the state,” said Lyn Henderson, CMP, current WIFT-FL President. “This announcement is a huge testament that there is a vested interest in banning together to bring more work to the Sunshine State.” The Board believes the creation of these sub-branches will aid in bringing new members and energy into the mix. The film/TV and digital media industries recently banned together for a second year in a row in a quest to convince state legislators / policymakers that the entertainment business provides a strong, positive impact on the economy and how critical it was/is for the state to offer tax credit allocation for a financial incentive program. Although the industry walked away empty-handed earlier this year, the continued unity and commitment shown by entertainment professionals throughout the state, gives everyone a tremendous amount of faith that year three will be the magic number. WIFT-FL is a volunteer organization run by an active Board of Directors, elected by the membership. The women and men who serve on the board come from all disciplines within the film, television and digital media industry. Board members hold offices as well as chair committees. WIFT-FL offers its member branches: Mini-Conferences - A unique opportunity for members all over the state to network, share ideas on chapter development and co-production options. State Membership Directory Quarterly Newsletters WIFT Website WIFT networking receptions Visiting Members Program - Members planning to work in other areas of the state.
