PRESS STATEMENT CALLING ON HIS EXCELLENCY BARR. BALA JAMES NGILLARI TO CONTEST THE 2015 ELECTIONS We, the undersigned, having met several times and considered the political development in Adamawa State have resolved to work together for the common good. The dialogue concluded on a need for good governance (accountability, justice, equity, fairness and inclusiveness); a blue print for the socio-economic development and reconstruction in Adamawa State. After the meeting, the under mentioned groups made and hereby gives the following resolutions: 1.0 We understand that Democracy is universally cherished because of its potential for guaranteeing equity and justice, freedom and human dignity; the present situation in Adamawa State, cannot guarantee even the slightest of the aforesaid if not remedied. 2.0 We noted that the political gridlocks in Adamawa State are capable of aggravating the internal security challenges if not properly addressed. Therefore, all parties to the outstanding political issues should come together to work for the peace and stability of the State. 3.0 We accept squarely the central challenges of the moment: That after 23 years of creation, the pace of political economic, social and cultural development, in Adamawa have been rather very slow and uninspiring. This has been largely manifested in the main due to poor qualities of previous leadership that emerged since the beginning of the Fourth Republic in 1999. 4.0 We have also come to the thoughtful conclusion that the immediate threat to Adamawa State is the rapid emergence of a supercilious army of political pretenders who represent contending interests to Adamawa’s interest. Today, the entire social-political matrix in Adamawa State is characterized by inter and intra-community, inter and intra-ethnic, and inter and intra-religions competition, ostensibly for political reasons. The implication is the observed anomie and political atrophy in Adamawa State. This is the natural consequence of the nature of anger politics, where all is fair in the contest for political power and where little or no regard is ever given to developmental issues and the well being of the people as the primary concern of governance. 5.0 We conclude that the theatre of absurd in Adamawa State can only be reversed if the people of the state come to terms with the recent judicial pronouncement in favour of the incumbent Governor. While the matter still remains sub-judice, we are fully convinced that this stage of our democracy demands a leader with the requisite experience and track record of broad mindedness, humility, creativity, and the capacity to generate momentum for sustainable growth and development in Adamawa State. 6.0 We have therefore, set ourselves the selfless and patriotic task of joining other well meaning Electorate in Adamawa State, to call on His Excellency, the Governor of Adamawa State, Barr. Bala James Ngillari, to consider the clarion call on him to contest the gubernatorial elections in 2015. This call is being made on behalf of millions of Adamawa men and women cutting across age, profession, belief, class, tribe, gender, geo-political zone and community. We are indeed, endeared to the idea of an inclusive approach to governance under the leadership of a Governor, who has relentlessly against all odds, demonstrated the capacity, innovation, boldness and fearless in governance. 7.0 We are by this declaration, asking all citizens of Adamawa State home and abroad, particularly the elders, and Traditional Rulers to intervene in the resolution of political uncertainties in the state. More so, we urge them to support the NGILLARI FOR GOVERNOR, 2015 PROJECT, at least, as an appreciation for the returning of normalcy since the assumption of His Excellency, as Executive Governor of Adamawa State. 8.0 We are aware that there are other excellent and potential gubernatorial candidates who each, has something unique to offer the state. But we believe that only Barr. Bala James Ngillari alone can best put together the broadest possible coalition with the humility, meekness, charisma, vision statewide acceptability, as well as the substance, to win convincing victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next gubernatorial election in February, 2015. His Excellency Executive Governor Bala James Ngillari commands great esteem and respect among millions of Adamawa State citizens, by virtue of his performance as one time member of the Oputa Panel, House of Representatives and Deputy Governor of Adamawa State since 2007. Even those who disagree with him openly acknowledge that his political and leadership ingenuity, rests on his creativity, simplicity humility and patience. 9.0 Ours is an agenda for ethical revolution. The fundamental principle of that agenda is the conviction that the best way to constructively overcome the problems of poverty pestilence, illiteracy, inadequate social infrastructure, poor health, unemployment and political disenfranchisement in Adamawa State is to impress on His Excellency Governor Bala James Ngillari to contest the next gubernatorial elections in February, 2015 irrespective of any political calculations. To under line the seriousness with which we intend to enforce this clarion call, the group has commenced mobilization of funds to purchase his intent form. We are also prepared to seek legal redress if need be, to enforce our fundamental human rights in accordance to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 21, the African charter on Human Rights and Peoples Right Declarations on Elections, Democracy and Governance etc. To Governor Ngillari we say fear not, stand firm!
