PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY COMR. NWOKOCHA, NOBLE OBUSOH ON THE 31st OF DECEMBER, 2014 TO THE GENERAL CONGRESS OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS. The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, The order of the Presidency, The S. S. A. to the President on Youths and Students Matters, The African Students’ Union, The West African Students’ Union (WASU), The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), The order of NANS Unionism, The National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NACES), And other relevant and interested bodies. Fellow Aluta Combatants!!! Revolutionary greetings in the solidarity name of Aluta. I am indeed really grateful to the God Almighty, who in his infinite mercy, has made I, and my fellow Aluta Soldiers to leave till this day of the year. It is really a thing of great Joy. I want to use this medium to thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria-Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan- for giving the students an enabling environment, to partake in what I call –Students’ Leadership. It is very democratic of you. Using this medium also to thank, the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Youths and Students Matters- Comr. Jude Imagwe for his untiring effort towards the continuous activeness of Students’ Unionism in Nigeria. Despite the hurdles that the students, at various times, encountered. I say a very big thank you. I am seriously indebted to the zealous Aluta activists, worthy of mentioning, among others include: My NACES National President, Comr. Opebiyi, O. A, national PRO and the south-west coordinator of the same association. I give thanks to OluJacob, Jabulani, Seedorf (the three). Comr. Abdulfatai, Oluwole Babalola my mentors, I thank you. My Immediate Past President of NANS, Comr. Yinka Gbadebo, you are highly recognized. Successman, Pedro Chibuzo (NANS ZONE B PRO), My NANS Coordinator ZONE B-Comr. Wowo, Safety, Atiku, former DSP NAPS, Comr. Imperator, Director of Finance UNIBEN, I give you kudos. Without mincing words, I appreciate the SUG Presidents from my state, Comr. Amabu, Comr. Ifeanyi Ekwueme, Comr. Tom SUG President at COE Akampka. Also using this medium to thank all the Colleges that are in the Zone B jurisdiction of NACES. The Comrades from my school: Comr. Imegi Shedrack (NACES Deputy Senate President), Comr. Onyije, Emmanuel U, my Zone B, Secretary, Comr. Francis Elias-My Chief Press Secretary and the numerous Alutalites, that are also worthy of mentioning, I Say a very big thank you, I acknowledge you all. It is really salient to note here that in this year that has is about to pass, many things had really occurred in NANS: Divisions, hatred, alignments etc. but to a large extent, this activities in their various dimensions and capacities, had brought the knowledge to the mental repertoire of every active student unionist. 2015 is a new year that is about to come, a year, that elections will be done in various level, various students’ associations etc. I pray they are done in peaceful, more democratic, and matured manner.
