PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE >> " Why A PREVENTIVE HEALTH FROM ILLNESS? " What is Good health? It means different things to different people. In simple terms good health means leading a disease free life. However to achieve and lead a disease free life is a very difficult task. Today we live in a world where activity levels are low and sedentary life-styles are the norm. The race towards goal setting and goal getting has resulted in a lifestyle which is very detrimental towards our long term health and makes us susceptible to a wide range of critical diseases like heart disease, liver and kidney failure, cancer and so on, not to mention silent killers like diabetes, thyroid and hypertension. What are the primary causes for a person to acquire a critical illness ? Stress - induced at the work place, at home and today definitely while commuting. Sedentary lifestyles - lack of exercise, consumption of junk food, drinking and smoking habits, and inadequate sleep due to erratic work cycles. Genes - transfer of diseases from one generation to another. (ex: diabetes) Please Understand repair and replacement is possible for everything and anything in this world but for human life. The only option available to us is maintenance but unfortunately we have taken our health for granted and this is why today.. India is the diabetic capital of the world with nearly 20 million people suffering from diabetes. 12 Lakh Indians are suffering fatal heart attacks annually, mostly in the age group of 20-40 Years. An average of 650 people are dying due to kidney failure that is well over 230,000 Indians a year. 2 Lakh Indians are suffering from chronic liver conditions yearly. 1 in 5 Indian are prone to thyroid conditions, however lethargic attitudes towards health screenings has resulted in India having 5 crore thyroid cancer patients. Another important finding is that an average Indian lives up-to the age of 63 but where-as a Japanese or Australian lives up to 86 probably because they respect the body that they live in. These statistics prove that we are reactive and not proactive by nature. In this scenario the only way to protect ourselves and our loved ones from these dreaded critical diseases is by changing our food habits with a balanced diet.
