PROFILING MCC WOMAN IDENTIFIED MINISTRY LEADERS OPERATION INASMUCH Rev. Booth Iburg started her journey with MCC Pensacola, FL. in 1995 with Holy Cross MCC. Rev. Booth answered her calling to ordained ministry in 2007 and graduated with her MDiv. from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA in 2011. At graduation, she was awarded the Rev. Canon Frederick B. Williams Prize in pastoral theology for her work with the homeless and hungry in Pensacola, FL. She continues to coordinate and expand this ministry. This past year while serving as a transitional pastor for Holy Cross MCC in Pensacola, two members approached Rev. Booth about launching a program they had been involved in while living in Fayetteville, NC.; OPERATION INASMUCH. OIAM is essentially a one day community project blitz where multiple projects are completed. The basis for this ministry is Matthew 25 where Jesus says inasmuch as you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to me. Rev. Booth found this idea challenging, exciting, and in alignment with her mission, so with the BODs permission it was a go. Rev. Booth coordinated this outreach ministry. Projects and project leaders were chosen, funds were raised, T-shirts were designed, approved, and ordered, and press releases were scheduled. She preached the concept during a couple of sermons and volunteers came forth. On Oct 18, 2014, OIAM HCMCC completed 7 projects ranging from free hair cuts in front of the church, to providing snacks, fellowship and entertainment to 25 residents at a nursing facility to clearing brush and building trails in a local tent community. The event was considered a success. Fifty plus volunteers enjoyed the day and each experienced making a positive difference in peoples lives. HMCC was featured on the local TV news, and in the Sunday newspaper. A wonderful video was posted on You Tube by our OIAM videographer. As we look to the future, we hope to partner with other churches or organizations. At this point Rev. Booth is already scheduled to present the program to a local Methodist church. Rev. Booth considers this event potentially transformational on multiple levels. https://youtube/watch?v=QtZSY2HsCZc&feature=youtu.be This FB presence will be profiling one woman identified person a week.
