PROHIBITION OF ASKING TOO MUCH QUESTIONS All perfect adorations and praise be to Allaah; the Lord who desire to guide His Slaves and protect them from Wrongs except the One whose heart is full of desires. We beseech His most adorable peace and blessings upon His noblest of all Messengers. A muslim must understand that part of the perfectness of the aqeedah of a muslim is to believe that: There is absolutely we need to worship and fear Allaah except that the Prophet(solallo ohu alayhi wasallam) had taught us. So, anyone who desires to worship Allaah with any other form not taught by the Prophet after he had been admonished about the wrongness of his actions is indeed a mubtadii(an Innovator). Regarding this matter above, many of we muslims do not pay khayr attention to it which is an issue greatness addressed in the shareea. It is very clear that Allaah admonished us in many aayaat guiding us to seek guidance from those who He had endowned wit ilm(knowledge) as He . However, the rate at which we seek guidance from them through asking questions has a limit set upon it in the shareea. The prophet said in a hadeeth reported from Abuu Hurayrah that: Whatsoever I prohibit you(muslims) from; stay totally away from it. And whatsoever I command upon you, do it(follow it) to the best of your ability. For Indeed what brought destruction upon those before you was that: They asked too much questions and they always argued with their Prophets. Lets view the two important matters raised by the Prophet. He advised strongly against Asking too many Questions and Arguing with those whom Allaah sent to them to guide them(The Prophets). Sincerely, directly or indirectly many muslims today have indeed argued wit the Prophet. When some muslims are told what the sunnah of the Prophet establishes, they reply in negation! This is indeed arguing with the Prophet and it wont lead a person anywhere except destruction as the hadeeth of Abuu Hurayrah proves. The prophet had sometimes by being silent shown dislike towards some companions upon them asking too mush questions. An example is seen in an hadeeth reported by Muslim where a sahaabee asked the Prophet after the prophet had explained to the sahaabahs that Allaah had made hajj compulsory upon you(when you have the means)! The sohaabee asked: Oh Messenger of Allaah! Is it upon us to do it(Hajj) every year? The prophet remain silent! Then he later said: Leave me alone when I do not overburden you! Indeed if I had answered his question; Hajj would have been made compulsory upon you muslims every year and I know you(muslims) do not have the means to cope with that! We also remember the story of how Allaah punished the people of Moosa regarding their asking too many questions. We can read this qisso(story) in Suuratul Baqora bi-idhnillaah. Moreso, we as well see some muslims today too asking many questions like a student of knowledge asking the Lecturer for the Page of a daleel(an evidence) after the Lecturer had given him the name of the book and chapter of where to get the evidence for his claim in a matter discussed in the lecture. This act is tantamount to asking too much questions and laziness too. There are many other ways in which people seek destruction upon themselves through asking too many questions! May Allaah rectify the ummah upon Haqq. Indeed None and Verily None can Guide Except The Owner of the Jannah and Jahannam!
