PROPOSED MARINE PROTECTED AREA FOR THE PROTEA BANKS REGION Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife believe that additional protection for the marine environment is required and will introduce proposals for a Marine Protected area (MPA) in March 2015 for the region Port Shepstone to Port Edward. Following an informal meeting of interested and affected parties held at Shelly Beach Ski Boat Club on Thursday 4th December 2014, There was a general consensus that a more formal group of those affected be formed and that such a group should be as broad based as possible. Interested and affected persons and groups from the Hibiscus Coast area such as TOURISM, ALL TYPES OF BUSINESSES, RATE PAYERS, club’s associated with all forms of SALT WATER SPORTS, FISHING CLUBS etc. are requested to send a representative to a meeting to be held at Shelly Beach Ski Boat Club house on Thursday 15th January 2015 at 16h00. All are strongly advised to attend as we will probably only have this chance to state our positions and negotiate the best possible outcome for us all.
