PTA MEETING WHAT I HEARD A SERIOUS MISTAKE....OR MISUNDERSTANDING RECENT DAY I WENTFOR PTA MEETING .I HEARD THAT ONE OF THE PARENT WAS SAYING THAT THE CHILD OF HIS/HER IS SLOW LEARNER.. I KNOW THAT CHILD PERSONALLY HE IS NOT A SLOW LEARNER.......BUT A BRILLIANT ONE HE GRASPS THE THINGS FAST AND GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ASSEMBLING...HOW CAN THAY SAY THIS...? WITHOUT ANY TEST MOST OF THE PARENT DIDNOT CARE THE CHILD PROPERLY(CARING MEANS TOWARDS STUDY OR LEARNING OR TEACHING) DIDNOT CHECK THE SCHOOL WORK PROPERLY AND THEN BLAMES... THERE THEY DONOT MAINTAIN CORRECT ROUTINE OR NEVER THEY PROVIDE TIMETABLE.....THIS IS NOT CONSIDER AS LEARNING DISABILITY THERE IS A TEST CALLED SPED This evaluation may include cognitive assessments, look at emotional and behavioral concerns, and measures of adaptive functioning.Cognitive assessments measure a student’s intellectual abilities. It gives general information relative to other students the same age. The test shows how well he problem solves, how he best interprets information (visual, auditory, etc.), and measures other areas such as memory and speed of processing information. These assessments have an overall IQ score, which is comprised of various scales. a slow learner has difficulty with higher order thinking or reasoning skills. This suggests that it will be more challenging to learn new concepts. New skills need to be based upon already mastered concepts. This can be difficult when the majority of the class has already mastered a concept and is moving on, while the slow learner needs more time. This can lead to gaps in knowledge and basic skills. TThey often feel “stupid” and start hating school. They spend all day doing something that is difficult for them, it can be very draining. Finding other activities that the student can be successful in is very important. There should be emphasis on strengths as well.
