PTI Core Committee Resolution (December 28, 2014) The Core - TopicsExpress

PTI Core Committee Resolution (December 28, 2014) The Core Committee in its meeting on Sunday 28th December unanimously decided that PTI had gone the extra mile in accommodating the govt in this time of crisis so that PTI should not be seen as in any way impeding the national cohesion to fight terrorism. PTI, despite its aversion to military courts in principle, supported the govt in the interest of fighting terrorism effectively. And it must be pointed out that PTIs own leadership has had terrorist charges against it! However, this should not be taken as a sign that PTI is in any way moving away from its demand of an independent inquiry into the May 2013 electoral rigging. PTIs negotiating team has shown as much possible flexibility as it could in talks with the government as has the PTI leadership which withdrew from its original demand of the PMs resignation. At present the negotiations continue to be deadlocked over 3 critical issues on which the govt had earlier had agreed. PTIs Core Committee asked the govt to move towards agreement as the PTI cannot show any more flexibility. PTIs conciliatory approach in the national interest should not be taken as a sign of a lack of resolve to have the Mat 2013 elections investigated by an independent, inquisitorial Judicial Commission. PTI had called off its street protest and its Azadi Chowk dharna but it retains all these options. PTI has sacrificed tremendously in its struggle for fair and free elections and against rigging and it will in no way step back from this commitment. Let there be no doubt on this count.
