PU Poetry Unplugged 11:The FINAL SHOW....Can I GET A OOOOHH!! Good Godbye , it has been a glorius eleven years. I cannot speak for everyone involved in Poetry Unplugged - Milwaukee involved but I will speak for me. Many generation Xers call the mid to late 80s and the early 90s as the golden age of Hip-Hop. It was a time when the language was fresh , the clothes were new and the music was a way of life. This culture swept the country and everyone wanted to be apart of it. It was the thing to be apart.of. I would like to think of the early years of Poetry Unplugged and the rise of MUEA as the golden years of what we did. It was a glorious time, it was an exciting time , it like the Barak Election was historic , monumental and presidential. I truly felt that we could change the culture. Give the city a new identity , stop the brain drain of young black professionals leaving to seek greener pasture elsewhere an plant a seed right here. An we did . Boy did we do it, but with great victory there is a great loss... I was never perfect I have left much carnage on my way to fame...i apologize for the pain and i acknowledge my mistake..As Coredj Vel said we were making it up as we went along. Life is lesson you grow as you go.. In closing when the doors close on Poetry Unplugged it will be the final door of the Marvin Pratt Election, The John Kerry Election, The CAV , P.O.E.T and MUEA...I leave you with this. The triumphs go to GOD, the mistake belong to me...if there was a blueprint I would of followed it, i didnt have one so I made it with my heart not my mind.. people will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel..-maya angelou .....
