PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: My son (10 weeks old) had a posterior tongue tie. Up until today, the only information I could get about getting it fixed was to travel to Albany to see a particular oral surgeon and to pay out of pocket. It seems there are many families who have had this presented as their only option. Today we visited Dr. Hengerer at URMC Ontolaryngology. He diagnosed the tie and snipped it there. It took us less than an hour from check in to check out and was covered by our insurance. Dr. Hengerer will only be in practice there for another year, but the other doctor in the group who will perform the procedure is Dr. Margo Benoit. Seems theyve only been recognizing and fixing posterior ties for 3-4 years, but those closer to Rochester have a saner option. Little Peety is already nursing more comfortably at 5 hours post surgery. PLEASE SHARE
