PULSE 2014 TT SERIES – ROUND 2 RESULTS 5.7km of pure relentless climbing is the simplest way to describe yesterday’s second event in this year’s TT series. Easily one of the toughest segments of road around Dublin / Wicklow mountains and a perfect venue to test out the legs and see who would become KOH for 2014!!! Hot favourite and rightly so, Fazz stormed up the climb with just 18min 17sec on the clock. A time most of us could only wish for but no doubt Fazz will already be thinking of sub 18min for next year!!! Gavin Haberlin with another fine performance took second again a repeat of the first TT podium with a sub 20min benchmark for the climb. The final podium spot was filled by Kevin Doyle with just 20min 40sec on the clock, those training intervals on the route paying off big time and a savage performance to give himself third. The women’s podium had a familiar look to it with Lizanne, Miriam and Dervla all featuring again. Lizanne stamped her authority on the competition following up with a second first place for the series and looks had to beat with a time of 25min 25sec. Miriam Staunton with a time of 26min 33sec showed great climbing strength and excellent pacing to real in Dervla over the course of the climb taking second. As mentioned Dervla Ownes just piped for second with her time of 26min 42sec takes third and ties overall with Miriam for second in the female series. While the two podiums are hugely impressive, congratulations must be given to all who completed the climb. Without doubt a relentless beast and just to get to the top is an achievement and in savage times from members one to thirty two.
