PUNSUP inspector held for embezzlement in Moga The vigilance bureau has arrested an inspector of the Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (PUNSUP) on Thursday evening for his alleged involvement in the wheat embezzlement amounting to Rs. 2.33 crore at Baghapurana in this district. The vigilance bureau has also registered a case against another official of PUNSUP. DSP Jagdish Singh said the then PUNSUP district manager Nitan Chaudhary had visited the PUNSUP centre at Baghapurana in 2012 and found the stock short. "After that he had sent a written complaint to the managing director of the department and on September 18, 2012 the department had complained to the vigilance bureau for further investigation. When the vigilance officials started inquiry, we found that 12,961 quintal wheat worth Rs. 2.33 crore was not there in the PUNSUP store," the DSP said. He said that after completion of the inquiry, the vigilance bureau registered a case against inspector Daljit Singh and his assistant PDC Amarjit Singh under sections 420 and 120 of IPC. "We have raided various places for nabbing the culprits and we caught inspector Daljit Singh.
