PURPLELICIOUS... CHRYSANTHEMUM. Theyre in the shops again! An aspect of Chrysanthemum, tightly packed, a true Autumn flower, built against rain, wind and cold? The name chrysanthemum is derived from the Greek words chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower) Chrysanthemums, sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae. They are native to Asia and northeastern Europe. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a flowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC. The flower was brought to the Western World in the 17th century.There are about 40 valid species and countless horticultural varieties and cultivars. For many years, chrysanthemum signifies praise and admiration. A chrysanthemum is considered as a noble flower of the Chinese noble class.
