Pak to launch campaign against Kashmir ‘rights violations’ Islamabad, Oct 24: Pakistan will launch a campaign internationally against the human rights violations by the Indian army in Kashmir, the countrys Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, said Friday. Giving a statement in the Senate, the Upper House of the Parliament, on the recent incidents of ceasefire violations, Aziz said: 700,000 Indian troops are responsible for human rights violations in Kashmir and Pakistan will launch a campaign to highlight these abuses at the international level. Radio Pakistan quoted the adviser as saying that the violations were a reflection of the election manifesto of India’s Prime Minister NarendraModi, who he claimed had said that his government would get tough on Pakistan. Aziz has said that India carried out 224 ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary this year and their intensity has been more than the previous violations. He also said that Pakistan always tried to resolve the issue through dialogue but there was no positive response from the Indian side. Aziz’s statement comes a day after Pakistans parliament unanimously passed a resolution against the unprovoked and indiscriminate ceasefire violations by India and asked the government to seek UN intervention to resolve the Kashmir issue. The resolution, moved by Aziz, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, stated that the National Assembly condemned Indian ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB). 13 Pakistani nationals have been killed in exchange of fire since September 13. The resolution called upon the Government that while pursuing bilateral dialogue with India, the issue should be raised at the UN and with the international community urging them to play their role in resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people. Sartaj yesterday also said that “dictation” of India over Kashmir issue is unacceptable and new and solid message regarding Kashmir issue would be given to the world including New Delhi soon. In an interview, Sartaj Aziz said if Kashmir is not an issue then why 0.7 million soldiers have been deployed in Kashmir and holding guns on each other at LOC. Pakistan will not sit silent until Kashmir issue is resolved,” he added.
