Pakharpora residents protest, demand merger with Pulwama Pakharpora (Budgam), Mar 7: Demanding merger with Pulwama district, hundreds of residents of this small town Friday staged protest demonstration and observed complete strike to press for their demand. According to reports, Pakharpora town witnessed complete strike and residents staged protests, demanding annexation with Pulwama district as against Budgam. “Residents of Pakharpora, Shankarpora, Chraripora, Mohanpora and other places assembled at Main Chowk and held a protest demonstration against the administration”, reports said. All the business establishments and shops were closed while as the traffic also remained off the roads. “We have been demanding and protesting for annexation with Pulwama rather than Budgam for last two decades”, the protesters said, adding, “We are 45 kilometres away from Budgam and only 15 kilometres from Pulwama but still, for unknown reasons, we have been attached to Budgam.” “With Budgam, we have been reaping sufferings only. Be it trade, employment, routes, electricity or anything else, we have all relations with Pulwama”, they said, adding that they left no stone unturned to materialize their demand but no one responded. “We will continue with our demand till we succeed. We will go for a hunger strike, if needed”, they said
