Palace ‘selective justice’ scored again Print Email: Published : Tuesday, March 04, 2014 00:00 Article Views : 110 Written by : Ryan Ponce Pacpaco THE House independent minority bloc yesterday reiterated their call for the Aquino administration to stop being selective in prosecuting politicians allegedly involved in the pork barrel scam. “The President’s allies are now exerting all efforts to demolish one by one possible opponents of the ruling party. With the government moving in on all fronts, perceived or vocal presidential and national post aspirants are being subjected to all sorts of controversies which can destroy their image,” Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, head of the bloc, said. Buhay Hayaang Yumabong (Buhay) party-list Rep. Lito Atienza and Abakada party-list Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz, both members of the bloc, called “on this administration to first prioritize the worsening condition of our people before putting politics in their agenda.” They were referring to the plunder complaint against Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile and Sens. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., all administration critics, before the Office of the Ombudsman. Romualdez, Atienza and Dela Cruz asked Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad to disclose the master list of lawmakers who benefitted from the P6.5 billion Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) for the sake of transparency and accountability. They said it is proper that Abad should make a full report on the releases he made for all DAP. The members of the bloc said the non-disclosure of names is “unfair” to other lawmakers who did not receive DAP like them. They said Abad cannot deny that the government funds allegedly ended up in the hands of fake non-government organizations (NGOs) purportedly with the imprimatur of his office. Administration allies have denied receiving P10 million DAP fund which includes P7 million for farm-to-market roads and P3 million for soft projects. It was reported that that senators and congressmen got DAP before, during and after then Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment.
