great little clip featuring a village that was, back in the day, just down the road (maybe 3 miles) from where I spent last winter. as shown in the video, fiery grandma Pele ate it up in 1960. currently theres a lava flow moving slowly in towards a much larger (like Washburn sized) town - Pahoa - thats about 5 miles in the opposite direction. this flow isnt, at this point, nearly as dramatic as the one that ate Kapoho, but theres a big scramble to punch new alternative roads thru right now as 9000+ people would be stranded if the the lava gets to the one highway that accesses this corner of the island. kind of an exciting place to live!
