Panic grips UNIP HQ There was panic this morning at the United Independence National Independence Party(UNIP) secretariat along Sheki Sheki road in Lusaka after word went round that some thugs organized by the faction opposed to the leadership of party President Tilyenji Kaunda was about to attack the secretariat. UNIP Secretary General Bishop Alfred Banda told Journalists who had rush to the scene that a group of thugs must have created the story and began calling media houses about their planned attack on the secretariat. Bishop Banda says the party has information that the former national women’s Chairperson Beatrice Kayuni has been holding meetings from her home plotting on how they will attack to party secretariat. He says the matter has seen been reported to the Police and that they have been assured that some officers will be sent to guard the premises. Bishop Banda has since advised Mrs Kayuni to seek redress over her expulsion from the former ruling party using the right channels if she is a genuine member of the party. But when contacted for a comment Mrs Kayuni has dismissed the allegations that she is behind a planned attack on the party secretariat. News by QFM Lusaka-27th October 2014 13:00
