Pappy Rant # 1898; Americans always do the right thing, after they tried everything else. - Winston Churchill. Is it my imagination or does Ted Crux look an awful lot like Joseph McCarthy? And I think the similarities do not stop there. No really! Not since McCarthy has reactionary politics disrupted our countrys political system the way Ted Crux and his Tea Party has done in the past 2 weeks. And I got to say, its the same mind set. McCarthy went chasing after perceived communists in the early 50s causing untold damage to the lives of thousands of government workers, writers, actors, military personal and the whole political system. Crux has attacked our economy, our place in the new global system, everybody on social security everyone without health insurance and was willing to let our whole nation blunder into chaos just to make a point. I would stick my tongue out at him and say nice try but Im not sure the dangers past. This radical right wing movement happening here in the USA right now should not be dismissed lightly. These people believe in what theyre fighting for and, yes, they want a fight! Many of them are evangelical so they believe they have God on their side and when some political movement has God on their side I say look out! I am not sure how far this minority is willing to take this Kampf but a few days ago I was worried. I hope that my readers understand just how screwed we were on the verge of being. A minority putsch is nothing new. It has happened in the finest of nations. When a small wealthy and well supported radical minority group decide that God, history, the heart of their perceived agenda is on their side then it doesnt matter what they do and how they do it, they hijack the political system and decide that its their way or the highway. The Taliban is a group like this and still cause havoc in Afghanistan even though they are a small minority. I would pull that old Nazi card too but everybody knows that story and beside, Fox news and the neoright have worn that one out by comparing Obama to Hitler...go figure! Radical politics never work. It is polarizing and disruptive. And when they do it is with disastrous results. Like Chinas culture revolution and Frances 1789 revolution which started out as a good idea but the power grab left after the deposition of the monarch led to a reign of terror and everyone lost their heads, literally. McCarthy tried it in the early 50s with creating a communist bogyman in a time of cold war uncertainty, playing on the fear and ignorance of the public. Thats what I see with Ted Crux and his neo-conservatives. If you listen to these men and women in congress you will notice they have nothing to offer us as an alternative to what theyre against. and if you think that they have been put down and their place, think again! Yeah! Tuesday was our American version to a beer hall putsch! Theyre down for now, but wait. We know what happened 10 years after the beer hall putsch and yeah...I did play that worn out old Nazi card because history teaches us (if nothing else) human nature and it does have a tendency to repeat itself. And the National Socialist Party was a minority in the Reichstag when they got their chancellor elected. Next year is an election year and a very important one. We can avoid this chaos by going out next year and voting these radical demagogues out of office, sending them back to their state and local contingencies where they are free to do whatever. But keep them out of federal government, please! If you dont think politics affects your life then you are being fooled.
