Pardoned Cat. Stopped by Louisiana State Penitentiary, located at Angola in West Feliciana Parish, to visit friend and prison warden, Burl Cain. While at Angola we took a little tour of Angola, which happened to include death row. As we were walking through the building of death row, being escorted by prison guards, a black cat ran out to greet us. The prison staffs face went blank and you could see in their faces they were not sure how the warden would react to having a pet cat in the building. Warden Cain looked at the cat and in a stern voice said, “Whose cat?” The staff replied, “It’s ours sir.....he just showed up……” Warden Cain’s response, “What’s his name?” The Staff replied, “We call it “Krazy Cat” cause it’s a little crazy……” Warden Cain then said, “Get me a pen and paper.” As the staff stood silent, Warden Cain began to write a note then handed it off to the prison guards. As the guards read the note a smile came across their faces and Warden Cain resumed our tour. Below is a picture of the note and of probably the only cat in the country to receive a full pardon! Gotta love Warden Burl Cain!!!
